Starting a Garden - Part 1

Posted By: David Johnson

There are a few thing that you must consider when starting a new garden. Usually the first thing that comes to mind is going to be where you are going to plant your garden. Also of importance would be what to grow!

In this article, I am going to discuss the first point. The ideal placement of a home vegetable garden will depend on what land is available. If you only have a small amount of land, it will probably be good enough as long as it gets a lot of sun light. You do not want to build a vegetable garden in the shade because nothing will grow!

Another thing to keep in mind is water drainage. You do not want to plant a vegetable garden where you know the water stands after it rains. Most vegetables actually like a small mound, so if the only place you can plant is a low point, make sure you obtain some fill dirt and build up the area.

With those 2 points covered, this ends this article. Make sure you look for the next article, when we discuss different vegetables you can grow in your garden!
